Healthy Homes Assessments:

All rental properties must comply with the healthy home standards.

We can help you understand what you need to do to make sure your rental property complies with the standards and stays that way.

The healthy homes standards, which became law on 1 July 2019, introduced minimum requirements for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture ingress and drainage, and draught stopping in rental properties.

The standards aim to ensure tenant’s homes remain warm and dry, while helping you achieve cost savings in the long-term maintenance of your property.

Landlords are responsible for meeting the standards and continuing to meet them over time.

The five healthy homes standards are:

  • Heating

  • Insulation

  • Ventilation

  • Moisture & Drainage

  • Draught Stopping

Landlords who do not meet their obligations under the healthy homes standards are in breach of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 – and may face consequences, including financial penalties of up to $7,200.

Whether you are an existing landlord, or you’re a homeowner preparing your property to rent out in due course, we can assist with:

> Undertaking Healthy Homes Assessment (HHA) inspections

> Preparing HHA and Heating Assessment reports to ensure your property is compliant

> Advise of compliance requirements

> Arrange required installations, including: Heat Pump, Insulation, GMB, and other HHA remedial works.
