Kitchen Ceiling - repair & upgrade:

Google review:

Following a leak in the roof above the kitchen, the 1970’s style ceiling tiles suffered substantial water damage.

A number of options were discussed with the home owners for how best to address the issue of their damaged kitchen ceiling.

It became evident that finding replacement tiles was not a likely or feasible option.

Plastering, stopping and painting, the continuous kitchen and dining room ceiling was one option discussed. That option would have involved substantial labour hours, and would have delivered only an overly simplistic aesthetic end result.

Ultimately, the agreed solution involved sourcing architectural quality plywood panels, and testing various wood-oil options to come up with a finish that was colour-matched to the existing kitchen cabinets.

The finished look was a modern dropped ceiling design, that was in keeping with the existing kitchen decor, and conveniently delineating the kitchen ceiling from the ceiling of the rest of living area space.
